Designed by Alessandro Mendini, the Anna G. Corkscrew is one of the best seller since it was first produced in 1994. The Anna G. Corkscrew is a tongue-in-cheek homage to a real woman. Her smiling face has become something of a cult figure over the years, giving birth (so to speak) to a rich family of objects for the table and kitchen in a wide range of materials. The moniker of the corkscrew “Anna G.” comes from the name of a real person, Anna Gili, a designer from Umbria, the one who designs animals. It was Alberto Alessi’s idea to propose this name, finding similarities between the image of the corkscrew and that of the real-life Anna: the hair style and long neck, the gaze, the dance-like movements.
