A Library of Home Decor & Fine Craftsmanship

Sep 16,2016 | Bibliotek .co

A very warm welcome to Bibliotek Design Store, your library of good design and home decor. It has been a most rewarding and exhilarating ride for the past month since we started and this would not be possible without your support and love. We were also honoured to be featured in the Straits Times and the Business Times

Bibliotek means library in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian (didn't know till recently!) and we aspire to be a space and platform to introduce high quality home accessories, kitchen & tableware, textiles and rugslighting and furniture from around the world. This name was chosen after much deliberation to represent elegant simplicity, quiet excellence and fine craftsmanship. Our journey really started when my wife and I were looking for furniture and accessories for our home, which was renovated about 3 years ago and we felt that a home could be refreshed without a major overhaul. We set out to hunt for these home accessories but were left largely disappointed as they were unavailable in the local market. For items that were available, the stores were cold and unwelcoming. We turned to web stores in Europe where a large selection of home decor items were available. As a bonus, the prices were much lower than those in Singapore after adding the cost of shipping.

We want more people to access established and upcoming brands easily, in a comfortable manner with minimal stress. We are driven by our vision to make everyday living better through good design and are honored to partner 14 international and regional brands to introduce their products to consumers in Singapore and beyond. The brands include international labels such as Alessi (Italy), Normann Copenhagen, Menu, Architectmade, Applicata, Kvadrat (all from Denmark). In our journey, we uncovered gems such as Ease Embroidery and KIMU from Thailand and Taiwan respectively at the Maison&Objet Asia held in Singapore this year.

We believe in sustainability, fine craftsmanship, and considered design and this motivates us to continuously search for functional everyday products and future design icons. In the coming months, we will be bringing you more new labels and new collections. Stay tuned!

We will also be bringing you more design news, inspirations and ideas in our blog. A library also provides access to a vast wealth of information and we will do so likewise through information about our items, their inspirations and the designers behind them.
